Piazza Italia is one of my favorite restaurants in the Fort Lauderdale area. From the moment you walk in the ambience makes you feel like you teleporting in to Rome, Italy. It has a very picturesque vibe, from the architecture to the music and there is even a mini Trevi fountain where you can toss a coin and make a wish.
The restaurant has a Side Market Café including a gelato shop, which is definitely European Culture. My co-host from Dining Divas, Christine Curran and I were able to join the brilliant Chef Luca in the kitchen where he was hand making some Tortellini. I was even given the opportunity to hand make some myself, and I felt pure bliss hearing the staff joke about me in their native language, Italian. Moments after the, photo opportunity, I left the rest of the dishes to the professionals.
I could see the chef and his staff were passionate about this craft and it definitely showed in the quality of the dishes. The food was exquisite! We tried the lobster ravioli, tortellini bites and Baccala alla Napoletana (Fresh Cod). Each dish was very fresh and handcrafted to perfection and the dishes were very well presented. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
After we sat down for dinner, we were able to join Sara, an Italian native, as she hand made some gelato, which was absolutely delicious! She made stracciatella from scratch right before our eyes, which was very impressive. This restaurant has been added to my top favorite Italian restaurants in Fort Lauderdale area! If you are nearby I highly recommend it.
